The Zodiac Signs of Autumn

Libra, Scorpio & Sagittarius

Libra Season

September 22 - October 23rd

After the all the work of Virgo Season, Libra recognizes that it’s time for some peace. Libra’s appreciate the beauty in this world. They are always on the look out for balance, whether that be in art, nature, relationships, social justice or anything else. They consider it their job to attempt to create balance. This is why they very often have a talent for art or decorating and why they are so often involved in the fight for equality for all humans.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, Libra Season brings us the Fall Equinox, which is a day when the light and darkness becomes equal. We have been inundated with sunshine and now Mother Nature comes in brings us balance. The crisp, wonderful days of Fall embody what Libra season truly is all about.

Libra is a Cardinal Air sign. Cardinal means new beginnings, which is why Libra opens up the season of Fall. Air signs represents thinking. They help us to get curious and ask questions. Libra, above all else, wants to know how we can find harmony.

Many people know Libra as the sign of relationships…and it is. Libra people take their relationships, whether that’s intimate, friends or business partnerships, very seriously. They devote time and energy to ensuring that harmony remains…sometimes to their detriment, as they can often take on too much in an attempt to keep the peace. The great irony to that, of course, is that it doesn’t achieve balance at all…rather just the appearance of it. So, it’s important that Libra people learn to navigate difficult conversations, so they can achieve true harmony.

But let’s go broader on the relationships concept. Libra seeks not only to find harmony within human relationships, but also between the relationships of all things. Art, home or fashion design, social justice. The great scales that represent Libra are looking for ways to balance all things.

So, during this Libra Season, let us all look to find balance in our lives. Ask ourselves where we are being strethched too thin and how we can ask for help. It’s a time to be honest with ourselves and find out where we’ve not done right by other people and uncover ways to make things right. Spend time looking for balance in nature and in art. Go to an art museum and soak up all the intricate ways that artists use nuance and balance to give us beauty. And…enjoy the harvest! In Pagan cultures, the Autumn Equinox was a big harvest celebration known as Mabon. Similar to Thanksgiving, but more in tune with Mother Nature. It was a time to give thanks to the Earth for all the blessings she provided during the Summer. A time when the foods were harvested and preserved. A big celebration would ensue with a feast of all the final fruits of the season.
